2007 Campout Highlights
Attendance at the 2007 Campout was around 55-60 people. The weather was gorgeous--sunny and mid-70s, with almost no mosquitoes. There was plenty of great beer, awesome food, and wonderful people. This year's pet count included 5 dogs and 1 camping cat.
Nearly 45 people showed up at Schell's on Saturday morning for Dave Berg's fantastic tour of their brewing facilities! Schell's President, Ted Marti, also joined us for part of the morning. The Homebrew Competition was held midday in Schell's old tasting room amidst much fellowship and free beer!
Saturday afternoon saw much flurry as the five Cook-Off teams got busy preparing their dishes for that evening's competition. Arcadia Porter was the mystery beer, and the recipes spanned the globe: Mexican Posole' Soup, Carribean Jerk Tenderloin, Asian Potstickers, Trinidad "Green Seasoning" Tenderloin, and London Tenderloin; recipes can be found elsewhere on this site.
After much groaning over stuffed bellies, many of the crowd waddled out to the campfire for a rousing game of "Fire Jenga", marshmallow roasting and a sing-along with Al Boyce on guitar...and of course, more beer!
